Doctors of Nursing Practice, Inc. replied to the topic DNP Collaboration in the forum DNP Student Concerns 8 months ago
I must reply to your note and question this approach. After someone graduates with a DNP degree, they will have earned an academic degree. This degree does not in-and-of-itself authorize advanced practice nursing. Are you working to earn your Nurse Practitioner designation also?
A second concern I have with your statement is that you will be…[Read more]

When we graduate with a DNP degree, we will be practicing medicine, and primarily working with physician colleagues. How can we as DNPs practice at the same standard of physicians but also integrate the nursing philosophy and our nursing background into our practice?

DNPs have restrictions that MD’s do not. The state you live in will determine the severity of these restrictions. How can DNPs help to advocate for more fairness between the NP and MD role in both the state they live in and across the country?

You ask a great question – one that I will ask of you and others. What contributions have DNP prepared colleagues made as a result of the pandemic? Thats a tough question to answer. A bigger question is what contributions and changes to health care delivery can we attribute to DNP prepared nurses? There are many that are difficult to quantify and…[Read more]

Amid the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, how has the role of Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) professionals evolved in shaping and implementing innovative healthcare strategies? Furthermore, how do you envision the lasting impact of their contributions on the future landscape of nursing, healthcare policy, and the broader healthcare system?

Hello! After reviewing the article, I feel like the author sparks a thoughtful conversation about blind peer review, challenging the notion of its fairness. The practical example of the Pandemic Pedagogy Research Symposium adds a real-world perspective, revealing how blind review unintentionally accepted work from institutions with discriminatory…[Read more]

In light of ongoing discussions about the title “Doctor” within the nursing profession, how do you see the evolving role of Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP) professionals in clarifying and advancing the understanding of their distinct contributions in healthcare, and what strategies would you propose to effectively communicate the expertise…[Read more]

I have been interested in artificial intelligence (AI) and the use of ChatGPT. I know ChatGPT can plagiarize and not use credible sources. But is there a place for AI? Could it be helpful at all? Or used to help summarize difficult to understand articles? Do you think it can help with our DNP education? Or only hurt it because of the obvious…[Read more]

Have you ever considered academia as a career with your DNP? I don’t think I originally went into my DNP program thinking this was an option. I know that we do have the clinical experience and knowledge, and it could lead us to help fill the gap of the nursing faculty shortage. Just wondering your thoughts on this?

Jennifer replied to the topic The Value of the DNP; Job Market Outlook/Compensation in the forum DNP Professional Growth 8 months, 1 week ago
I think you are exactly right, as time goes on more and more people will obtain their DNP and the value of having one will be important. It is also interesting that you bring up that a difference between the Masters and the DNP (from the outside) is the title. I think people you are working with will know you have a DNP, but patients may never…[Read more]

Hi Avery! I have definitely had this happen. I have had people tell me to get my masters instead, or at least get it along the way to becoming a DNP. And I have also had people tell me they thought a DNP would be too specialized and I wouldn’t have a job after school. Most of the people speaking don’t know what the DNP schooling involves, or wha…[Read more]

Hi Susan!
I just read over AB-765. How interesting. The bill says that the public would get confused if anybody in healthcare used “doctor” other than medical doctors and doctors of osteopathy. It also makes it sound as though we are purposely misleading the public if we were to go by doctor as a DNP. I’m also shocked that if we did use “Dr.”…[Read more] - Load More
