When considering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, we cannot move forward without learning from the past as we look to the future. Think of how the people of Germany were able to move forward after the atrocities committed by the Nazis. From my readings the German people have apologized, yet have incorporated their development of actions moving forward with a clear understanding of the implications of the past. Have we, as Americans, made adequate apologies for our nation’s history of slavery? More importantly, have we clarified our future by assuring that we are more equitable and inclusive while appreciating diversity? I think the answer is a resounding no – we have not evolved enough.
