The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program will prepare clinical leaders for comprehensive clinical nursing practice that influences health care outcomes for individuals or populations, grounded in evidence-based application, within a changing health care system.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice degree program is delivered online. Degree options include Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

The applicant is required to apply to the Graduate School and to the School of Nursing.

The Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program at Indiana State University prepares nurses to be innovative leaders and environmental change agents to transform our healthcare delivery system. The DNP represents the highest level of preparation in nursing practice, broadening the graduate’s ability to process and translate new evidence into nursing practice. This ability is essential to maximizing the safety and efficacy of nursing practice to improve patient outcomes.

The DNP program is a 37-credit hour post master’s program requiring a total of 1,000 hours of supervised clinical preceptorship*
Consistent with other DNP programs, there is no dissertation requirement. Current APRNs can bring up to 650 post-baccalaureate clinical hours. 
Students complete a DNP scholarly project based on their individual expertise and interests.

IWU Doctor of Nursing Practice program prepares nurses at the highest level of leadership, scholarship, and character to be world changers in global healthcare systems. The program is based on the understanding that nurses provide services, which include the direct care of individual clients, management of care for populations, administration of nursing systems, and development and implementation of health policy.

Indiana Wesleyan University has been offering online educational options for nearly two decades. The doctoral programs build on this history to offer the programs and include three residencies in each program (and for the APRN health assessment course) to provide connection and build skills needed by all nursing leaders.
