    With a focus on real-world relevancy, the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree continues a tradition of excellence in nursing education at The University of Tampa. This convenient, online program consists of 30 credit hours spread over six semesters. Students may choose from three unique concentrations: one for nurse practitioners (Advanced Practice Nursing) and two for nurse leaders (Leadership in Population Health and Leadership in Clinical and Academic Nursing Education). The leadership concentrations are open to students with current nursing licensure in Florida and/or one of the nursing compact states.
    The DNP program’s online format, with only three required visits to campus, allows students to continue their full-time careers. UT nursing faculty are respected researchers and practitioners and are committed to students’ educational mastery and career advancement.

    Currently, within our DNP Program, we have a Post Master\'s concentration (Dr. Joanie Jackson coordinates the Post Master\'s concentration) and a Nursing Administration concentration (with the option to obtain an MBA). By January 2022, we will be offering a BSN to DNP for Nurse Anesthesia concentration also. A concentration for BSN to DNP for Nurse Practitioners (Family and Acute Care Gero) is also being developed with offerings expected in Fall of 2022. Once both Anesthesia and NP concentrations are underway, we will no longer offer Master\'s level degrees.

    The University of Tennessee College of Nursing is a catalyst for optimizing health through nurse-led care by integrating education, practice, research, and technology.
    The University of Tennessee College of Nursing offers two graduate degree options - the DNP and PhD. We also offer a range of graduate certificates. Concentrations in our BSN-DNP Program include Family Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Pediatric Nurse Practitioner (Primary Care and Dual Track-Primary/Acute Care), Nurse Anesthesia, and Nurse Executive Practice. The Post-Master’s DNP is a generalist program designed to broaden and extend the knowledge base of master’s-prepared nurses. Master’s-prepared DNP students may also add-on a Graduate Certificate to include a new specialty. Many of our programs boost a 100% first-time pass rate from the national certification boards.
    Our graduate programs are offered via a blended distance education model, with most coursework completed online and periodic on-site visits to the campus in Knoxville. We feature a unique distance education tuition model, which includes an out-of-state tuition waiver for students residing outside of the state of Tennessee.

    The post-master program offers two formats online. The first is a traditional semester length with all materials and assignments online and two to three class meetings during the semester synchronously online. The other format is an accelerated format with one course offered every 8 weeks. Both programs are identical in content. The student can complete either program in two to two and 1/2 years.

    The UTHealth DNP program is a post-master’s program that admits nurse practitioners, clinical nurse specialists, certified nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), nurse directors, and nurses focused on informatics.   The DNP program is the first  and highest ranked DNP program in Texas

    Students attend classes at the Houston campus for two, two-day sessions per semester and also engage in online learning. On-campus courses start Friday at noon and last until Saturday at 3:00 p.m. The campus is located in the Texas Medical Center where students enjoy the resources of a distinguished academic health science center within the world’s largest medical center.
